Second Annual Puppet Workshop
Excellence Through the Arts held its second annual puppet workshop this month. On April 17 and 24, the Rogue Artists Ensemble returned to Jordan High School bringing with them energy, creativity, and supplies. The Rogue Artists are a group of people with a passion for puppetry who bring their multimedia productions to both children and adults. During the two-day workshop at Jordan, students learned to make shadow, newspaper, and sock puppets. In addition to creating puppets, students also put modern twists on traditional fairy tales creating new storylines. Isabel Soto, a workshop participant, had this to say about the show, "We performed for an audience, and I'm quite sure they enjoyed our performance with three different styles of puppets. It probably even made them [the audience] open their minds about puppets." Another participant, Keith Weston states, "This was a great experience. The people who came to the show seemed to enjoy the show...The Rogue members made it an enjoyable experience. I would recommend people participate, because they will have a good time and not to mention you can earn service learning." The Rogue Artists Ensemble supports visual and performing arts as evidenced by this fun yet educational workshop.
